Jointly held with CCG at Strathclyde University, Glasgow, this event officially launched the Strategic Energy Planning Principles of the Roundtable Initiative on Strategic Energy Planning, a global multi-agency movement promoting ways for development partners to work collectively towards improved effectiveness, transparency and national ownership of their support to country governments on strategic energy system planning.

The session was introduced and chaired by Linus Mofor from UNECA. The panellists were:

  • Will Blyth, Senior Research Fellow (Energy), FCDO

  • Will Usher, CCG and KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm

  • Franziska Bock, GIZ

  • Andrii Gritsevskyi, IAEA

  • Jairo Quiros-Tortos, University of Costa Rica

The audience were introduced to the five principles (national ownership; coherence and inclusivity; capacity; robustness; and transparency and accessibility) by representatives from some of the institutions that have already endorsed them: A chaired panel discussion and a Q&A session with the audience followed.
