Technical and economic feasibility of utilising different time zones for exploiting solar resources. The case of a potential Gulf-India interconnector

Abhishek is a co-author of ‘A techno-economic and financial analysis of a Gulf-India undersea electricity interconnector’, which was published in 2021. This research assessed seventy-five different potential scenarios to assess whether a solar PV interconnector between the between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and India could be least-cost optimal.

Abhishek is an independent consultant specialised in energy systems modelling. He works for the United Nations on building integrated resource models to long-term planning and on the UK’s Climate Compatible Growth Programme. In the past, Abhishek managed INSIGHT_E, a multidisciplinary energy think-tank informing the European Commission. He completed his PhD in energy systems from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and is an administrator of the energy systems modelling platform OSeMOSYS.
