Sustainable electricity supply is a prerequisite for economic growth. Financial challenges, exacerbated by losses caused by electricity theft are a major obstacle for developing economies.

This paper summarises findings for research in the Kyrgyz Republic on the role smart meters can play in reducing such losses.
