Widassie is a lecturer at Mekelle Institute of Technology-Mekelle University (MIT-MU). Her research interests are data analyzing, modelling a real-world problem, machine learning, artificial intelligence, deep learning and their applications.

She has a BSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Mekelle Institute of Technology (MIT), and an MSc in Information Technology from Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BIT).
