Niccoló Meriggi is a country economist for IGC (International Growth Centre) Sierra Leone and is in the final stage of his PhD in development economics at Wageningen University. Prior to this, he was a visiting researcher at Yale University.

Niccoló’s research uses rigorous methodologies to explores how people living in developing or emerging countries can be best encouraged to adopt technologies or behaviours that are likely to be welfare improving or socially beneficial. He has been using behavioural experiments to examine how subsidies and information about new technology affect uptake, usage, and future demand.

He has been working in Sierra Leone for three years, where he has been engaging and advising government on the implementation of development programmes, strategies to evaluate programme implementation, and the use of lessons learnt from these programmes.
