In many developing countries, electricity consumers experience frequent supply interruptions, leading to high coping costs and stifled investment, which contribute to energy poverty.

For this report the authors implemented stated preference experiments to estimate households' preferences for improved electricity supply in 42 cities of Ethiopia. They conducted both contingent valuation studies and discrete choice experiments and also examined the role of energy poverty on preferences for improved electricity supply.
