Hailekiross is a staff member at Mekelle University and a PhD researcher in Renewable Energy Technology with a focus on Wind Farm Power Optimisation and Control in collaboration with the Norwegian University of Life Science (NMBU) – Center of Renewable Energy Technology.  His research interests include renewable energy technology, control systems, power electronics and their applications. He previously worked as a researcher and system engineer at Phillips, DAF trucks and SKF, in the Netherlands

He has a BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics and a post graduate diploma in Power Systems Engineering from Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU), Ethiopia, and an MSc in Control Systems Engineering with specialisation in Mechatronics Engineering from HAN University, the Netherlands.
