Illustrating how political economy analysis (PEA) can inform the design of applied research programmes in a way that is more likely to be conducive to successful reform processes. Using the case of the Energy and Economic Growth (EEG) programme, this report presents concrete ways of mainstreaming PEA in different levels of applied research programmes.
