South Africa has finally re-opened bidding windows for its renewable energy IPP procurement programme (REI4P).

Power Futures Lab hosted a webinar to analyse and discuss the preferred bidders’ announcement for Bid Window 5.

The announcement comes after a 6-year hiatus in procurement and is set to be the first of several new procurement rounds by the national government. At the same time, we are seeing an opening up of the energy sector to procurement by local government and the private sector, spurred on by a number of important recent regulatory reforms.
