Working Paper: Households’ valuation of power outages in major cities of Ethiopia: An application of stated preference methods

This paper provides the results from an application of stated preference methods to estimate households’ preference for improved electricity supply in major cities of Ethiopia.

The authors present results from the contingent valuation method that shows households’ willingness to pay for improved electricity supply. The discrete choice experiment allows examination of the value that urban Ethiopian households attach to changes in the various attributes of outages. Finally, the policy implications of the findings of the study are discussed.
