Professor Jyoti K Parikh is Executive Director of Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe), New Delhi. She was a Member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change – India and is a recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize awarded to IPCC authors in 2007. She served as the Senior Professor and Acting Director of Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, 1986-2003. She also worked at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Austria, for eight years (1980-86, 76-78) and at the Planning Commission as Senior Energy Consultant at New Delhi (1978-80).

Recently she has been appointed as the advisor for Global Commission on Adaptation set up by UN Secretary General and Gates Foundation, managed by World Resources Institute. She was also a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda on Decarburization of the Energy Sector. She has served as an energy consultant to the World Bank, the US Department of Energy, EEC, Brussels and UN agencies such as UNIDO, FAO, UNU, and UNESCO, and as an Environment Consultant to UNDP, World Bank and so on. She worked as an advisor to various ministries for Gov. of India.

She has wide-ranging interests in the energy and power sector spanning energy efficiency, renewable energy, demand side management, inter regional power trade, economic operations of power systems, power pricing, energy demand and supply modelling, energy access, and gender.

She has guided 16 PhD/Masters theses in the environment, energy, and climate. She has been overseeing a USAID project on South Asian Cross Border Electricity Trade for the last six years, which brought out 30 reports and organised 82 events from 2012-2018.

She is the Principal Investigator for the EEG project Declining renewable energy costs and regional power trade in South Asia.
