Philippe Benoit is an Adjunct Senior Research Scholar with the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Policy Affairs where he leads the Center’s energy for development research initiative. He is also a Senior Associate (non-resident) with the Energy and National Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Prior to joining Columbia, Philippe was the Head of the Energy Efficiency and Environment Division at the International Energy Agency, and previously worked at the World Bank in various capacities including as Energy Sector Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean and as Advisor to the Managing Director responsible for World Bank Group private sector investments. Philippe was also a Director in SG Investment Bank’s energy project finance department.
Philippe has a JD from Harvard Law School, a master’s degree from the University of Paris, Pantheon-Sorbonne, and a BA from Yale University.
